Easter Bonnet

Here's a simple Easter Bonnet that I designed and cut on my Silhouette SD (now you can see I'm nowhere near as talented as the lovely lady whose card design I used as the base for Mother's Day!)  Anyhow I was quite pleased with this as it was made as an 'eleventh hour' entry for a challenge over on the MCS Platinum Forum and I really didn't want to let my friends there down by not entering into the spirit of the challenge.

The base card is a silky finish but I don't remember where it came from (sorry), the bow was tied with help from my bowmaker and I made the flowers using a tonic punch and then edged each petal with Stickles 'Fruit Punch' glitter  - I also put a 'dollop' (technical term - lol!) in the centre of each rose and the leaves are a 'Joy' die run thro' my Cuttlebug .

Once again am now off to feed the family before they fade away!!!

Mother's Day

Hi one and all, hope everyone has had a lovely Mother's Day - especially all the mum's out there!  I've not had the most relaxing of days but have had some lovely treats from my two lads - gorgeous cards, big box of choccies and some Crabbies Alcoholic Ginger Beer (I Say!) both of which I love, in fact am sampling the Crabbies as I type - Yum!

My mam is very difficult to buy for as she says she 'hasn't anywhere for flowers' and we can't buy her chocolates as she's been told she needs to lose weight and is seeing the dietician tomorrow (I didn't think it was fair to put temptation in her way); we considered going out for Sunday lunch - again not a good idea as she likes her veg etc cooked her way (you kinda put the carrots on in November for Christmas lunch if you know what I mean!) so, instead I've had the whole family here all day and did a roast lunch for us all (husband and eldest son did the washing up tho'), a proper family time with lots of chat and laughs between us which, to me, is what the day is all about... being really comfortable and remembering some sad, but more of the happy events in our lives.  Okay will stop now - everyone has their own idea of how to spend their time!!

Seeing as mam now has her card I thought I could show it to you.....

Once again I have used a favourite product Centura Pearl for the card base in a pale 'duck egg blue' (used blue for a change as my mam reckons there are only two colours in my world - purple and pink - lol!)  I wish I could claim credit for the beautiful lacy overlay that was cut on my Silhouette SD but I must, instead,  say a big 'Thank You' to a very talented and generous lady Joyce (aka 2 Magpies) from UK Scrappers Forum for her lovely design and also the co-ordinating aperture card.  However, I did put my own 'slant' on it by heat embossing the overlay after cutting out using a pale blue pearl embossing powder, so it looks enamelled and then I tried something I've not done before...  not having have a suitable stamp, from my PC I printed my wording (Black Chancery font) on the outside of the insert (checked for placement - obviously!) then traced over the letters with a Quickie Glue Pen, let this dry for a moment or two then sprinkled silver detail embossing powder over and heated - the effect is brilliant with deep dimension and shine!!!  I'll be trying this again for definite.  The foliage is cut from white pearlescent card scraps using a Joy die and my Cuttlebug, the flowers I made by hand (again from scraps) using my Kendell (Tonic) punch.

My mam loves it and says she's had a lovely day with her family, that's what really counts isn't it?

Take care and hope you call by again soon.

Something to show you at last!

Hi there, at last I can post some pics  that (I think) are a lot nicer than the tales of my decorating - lol!   Which, just to keep you up to speed.... yawn.... boring... is now finished for the moment, apart from hanging the pictures and placing the ornaments where I want them.  Okay promise that's the last about the decorating - honest!!!!

One of my best friends' daughters is getting married later this year and asked if I'd make the wedding stationery, obviously my answer was a very  happy 'Yes'!  These are a selection from samples I made...

Centura Pearl used as the base cards, a couple of Spellbinder dies, Inkylicious and Personal Impressions stamps and Cuttlebug embossing folders for decoration, oh yes you may have just spotted narrow gold metallic ribbon too!  The square invitation is actually an envelope with the wedding details inside, I made a ribbon strip from gold frosted card that fastens at the back with a simple cross over/slit mechanism and can either be unfastened or simply slipped off to access the information.  Needless to say there's some dry embossing on each of the back flaps to make it look prettier!

Again Centura Pearl card used for the bases, mirri board, stamps again from Inkylicious and Personal Impressions, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder for the top of the invitation and organza ribbon added for detail.  The 'Heart Topped' favour box  is my adaptation of a Silhouette cutting file; I also changed the side folds (but you can't see that bit can you?) as I thought it looked a bit 'plain' and 'chunky' with only a single fold (you know like a gift bag has!) and the other favour box is just a classic shaped gift bag (obviously scaled down in size) with a Martha Stewart punched heart, embellished to fit the occasion.

Finally, more on a gold/ivory theme using Centura Pearl, gold mirri and foiled card, Personal Impressions/Inkylicious stamps and Spellbinders dies, oops... nearly forgot about the Cuttlebug embossing folders (the small bride & groom is from the same set as the champagne flutes above!)  The square is another envelope style invitation and has the wedding info inside mounted onto a mat of gold shimmer paper cut on my Silhouette SD with a file I made based on the Spellbinder die used for the topper as, unfortunately, the biggest die in the set was too small for my purpose.

I haven't shown you what the bride actually chose as I didn't think it was fair to her until nearer the wedding - just in case they were spotted on here by some of the guests!  I will let you see them later tho - promise!

Okay am off to make something for tea now, before my family keel over from hunger - lol!

Hope to see you again, 'til then take care and be happy

Fingers crossed!!

Hi one and all, thanks for stopping by!

I can just about get to my crafty stash now and, with luck, should have some new pics to post here very soon.  I've a busy week ahead getting everything back in place in the house and am taking my mam to various health-related appointments as she doesn't get around too well these days.  Roll on the weekend so I'll be able to cut, stick and glitter!!!

Hope the weather is okay wherever you are and it's not too cold/icy or snowing!

See you soon x
